Exhibition Outlines

His Majesty the Emperor reached the 20th Anniversary of accession to the Throne in good health. The year 2009 was also the year of the 50th anniversary from the Imperial wedding, and Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress expressed their deep gratitude towards the many congratulations expressed from people throughout Japan and foreign countries.

At our museum, we have introduced various items related to the Imperial wedding, Enthronement, and daily lives as exhibit themes, in commemoration of the auspicious occasions of the 50th anniversary from the Imperial wedding and the 20th Anniversary of accession to the Throne since July of this year. We will continue to introduce their activities to foster friendly relations on an international level and visits within the country, through the various gifts and offerings, until next March.

In the 4th term, we will introduce the gifts from the various prefectural governors on occasions of Their Majesties’ visits. Their Majesties highly regard understanding the present situations of the country and the people, sharing feelings with the people, and strive to visit various areas throughout the country. Since the Enthronement, they have visited all of the prefectures during 15 years, and have paid attention towards the people of each area.

In the 5th term, we will introduce their acquaintances with various foreign countries. Their Majesties’ activities for international relations are various, including visits to various countries, and meetings with each countries’ monarchs and leaders.

Their Majesties have heartily exerted to visit areas throughout the country and to foreign countries, since their marriage. These activities can be said to have created the present Imperial Family familiar to many people.

In this exhibition, many valuable items are exhibited due to Their Majesties’ deep understanding. We hope many people will be able to perceive the achievements and spirits of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress, on this occasion.
