Celebrating 100 Years of Showa: The History of the Imperial Palace Tours

Guided tours of the Imperial Palace began in June 1954.

Since then, various improvements have been made, including the construction of the Palace and the replacement of the Main Gate Bridge. Today, visitors on the current tour route can view sites of historical and symbolic significance.

This exhibition features photographs showing how places along the present tour route appeared in earlier times. The photographs are displayed at the Someikan (Visitors’ House).
