Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress hold luncheons or banquets on the occasion of visits to Japan by distinguished guests from abroad including State Guests, Official Guests at the Imperial Palace or the Imperial Residence. Luncheons and other gatherings inviting leading domestic figures are also held.
Their Imperial Highnesses the Crown Prince and Crown Princess and other members of the Imperial Family sometimes join Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress and sometimes hold their own luncheons and dinners.
