Kamoba (Imperial Wild Duck Preserves)

Presently the Imperial Household Agency maintains two Imperial Wild Duck Preserves, one, the Saitama Imperial Wild Duck Preserve in Koshigaya City in Saitama Prefecture, and the other, the Shinhama Imperial Wild Duck Preserve in Ichikawa City in Chiba Prefecture. Both grounds have a pond, known as Motodamari covering an area of 13,000 square meters, to which over 2,000 wild ducks and other birds flock every year on their migration for the winter.

The duck-netting season at the Imperial Wild Duck Preserves (from mid-November to mid-February of the following year) is when the ground is used by domestic and foreign guests by the gracious permission of His Majesty the Emperor.
